Ojai House by HERE modern Design

One of the most photographed and talked about homes in the Greater Los Angeles area is right in the heart of Ojai. Developed by Los Angeles architect and interior designer Kate Svoboda-Spanbock of Here Design, the property was apparently a nightmare to work with from the very beginning, and not because of the clients!
Long, narrow and sloping, the 1,600 square foot lot was studded with mature trees that could not be moved (not that anyone wanted to). Not to mention the fact that they were working with a limited budget; the property was one of the toughest Svoboda-Spanbock had ever seen. Read more [ via : 2modern ]

LIMBO CHAIR BY INDUFLEX

The Limbo Chair, designed by the Portuguese furniture design company Induflex, is a quirkily-designed piece of furniture that is also a cozy place to relax. It reminds me of a shirt collar that can be worn up or down, depending on your mood (I guess the cool kids keep it popped).
The colors are bright and cheery making this not only a comfortable chair, but an artistic element in any room. Read more [ via : design-milk ]

Three-Volume Residence Resting cube home

The residential structure named Anti Patio House is composed of three containers that capture the essence of modern living. These three volumes were designed to perfectly adapt to the property – a hillside terrain oriented towards the East, defined by “a 10-15 km panoramic view characteristic of a penthouse” – as described by the creative minds behind this project.
This contemporary home designed by Drozdov Partners is located in Kharkov, Ukraine, in a picturesque setting. A terraced property profile proved to be challenging, but the final result is a magnificent modern home made out of three 60 square meter containers each. The natural slope of the hillside allowed the architects to place two perpendicular containers on top of each other, while the third one sits separately and shelters the guest suite. The lower volume is occupied by the living spaces, while the upper one – resting on the slope – was risen to take advantage of the beautiful surroundings. A terrace wraps around two sides of the house, pierced by an inviting swimming pool and honestly open to the views, as are the social areas. Read more [ via : freshome ]

aaland architecture - wooden structure

This house takes the form of a continuous, long, folded wooden structure that incorporates all the functions of the house. Here we created a clear folding structure that flows up, down, over and under.
This structure transformed into all the house elements: walls, floor, roof, seating and roof terrace. The house is created with ecological ambition: It is insulated with linseed fibers, the exterior wood is treated with natural oils. All the wood is from a local sawmill. The house is built on pillars allowing us not to cut any roots or trees. Read more [ via : bonkee ]

Maison Idekit Quebec Shipping Container Home

Architect Bernard Morin and his wife Joyce Labelle decided to start out their new company the way most business owners do: by sampling their own wares. Maison Idekit is a company that designs unique and affordable shipping container homes.
After seeing the owners’ residence, it’s hard to imagine anyone turning down their services. The home is unlike any other shipping container home out there, with the outside giving basically no clues to the origins of the building material but the interior featuring exposed shipping container panels. The 3000-square foot home is a feat of container architecture, to be sure, and it will be a joy to see what else this team comes up with in the future. Read more [ via : weburbanist ]

Bamboo facing is used on the front facades of the homes in order to provide natural ventilation, and the structures are made of Profil Haus steel for quick assembly. Mini House architecture firm by Filter architecture

stucco over brick - modern architecture

This individual residential house is located in a suburb of Sarajevo. The house was designed in the ambit of an older building on the same site, which was an urbanistic requirement. The program demanded a much greater capacity for the new facility.

For this reason, a concept is created for reduction of the horizontal communication into vertical ones and for use of the basement floor for habitation by introducing lighting through denivelled patio. Rooms are becoming platforms that are distributed around the spiral staircase while catching views of the surrounding countryside and high mountains in the background, through internal and external openings.

Modern Attitude Kitchen by Arthur Bonnet

Designed by Marc Moreau for French kitchen manufacturer Arthur Bonnet, the Attitude kitchen is contemporary design that uses wood in a modern way, whilst paying tribute to traditional French cabinet making techniques.
